I created this mannequin candle from a clay model, then made a mold, and next poured the wax. The experimental component was to take from that childhood notion of melting such objects with a light or sun. So, when I poured the wax, I put some objects inside the mannequin hoping to reveal them as a 'Surprise' for when the melting process ensued.
I hung a high voltage spot light to shin through a magnify glass onto the mannequin and waited to see what may happen. There was no preliminary test. I created the piece and wanted the unknown melting experiment to occur at the opening reception for the exhibit.
No, it did not melt.
This is a metaphor for life. It is still worth it to try even if something might now happen as intended or hoped.
